Home Sweet Home!
My trip home was uneventful.
Our flight left late on Friday and we arrived in Frankfurt early in the
morning, before daylight. We had coffee
in the airport with team members who were heading to other flights. Because we had a very long layover, three of
us left the airport and took the train to Wiesbaden. We have done this before, and it is a great
antidote to two long flights with a long layover in between. The train ride gave us glimpses of the early
spring landscape outside of Frankfurt.
Wiesbaden was quiet on Saturday morning, but we enjoyed walking through
the Farmer’s market and the old city streets.
We ate some fresh local strawberries from the market, and enjoyed a
leisurely brunch at a local restaurant before venturing back to the airport. It was a sunny day and definitely early spring!
It is nice to be home and start to return to “normal”
routines, but Ethiopia is still very much on my mind! Our work for the week included: 12 ENT surgical cases, 31 orthopedic and
plastic cases, 123 clinic visits, 68 hearing aid dispensed, 102 audiograms and
50 evaluations at the School for the Deaf!
