Homeward bound!

In Fort Lauderdale about to board for the flight home! I am tired so will enjoy a little nap. Hopefully I can post pictures soon.

Good bye Haiti!

At the Port au Prince airport, waiting to board. This was a whirlwind trip. I made some new friends and saw some old ones. Going to enjoy a nap on the flights!

Goodbye Haiti

At the airport in Port Au Prince waiting to check in. It was a busy day yesterday, about 15 cases and then we took care of a boy in the ER who had several bad lacerations from going through a glass door.

It was a good trip - lots of amazing people and cases and challenges.

I will look forward to a nap on the plane!

Sunday

Breakfast with oatmeal and bananas.
No issues over night that we know of! Today we have lots of ENT cases and a few urology. We need to pack up our stuff by the end of the day/night because we leave early tomorrow. Hard to believe this time tomorrow we will be heading to the airport.
My day is done. It was a busy day. Stabilizing the ICU patient who was transferred around noon. 7 urology cases, 6 ENT/ cleft. Hopefully will sleep well 2nite!

Saturday, May 3, 2014

It was a rough night for our whole team. Many people stayed up all night or parts of it caring for a complicated patient. By noon today we were able to transfer her to another hospital with an ICU. We are doing other surgery now. It is hot and sunny and breezy.

The breeze

Sitting outside enjoying the Haitian breeze. We did three cleft lip surgeries so far and now a thyroidectomy. We also did four urology cases, including the son of a missionary from South America I was able to connect with our team. We have several more urology cases but are on hold for a C- section being done by the Haitian team. It might be a long night, but the breeze is nice right now!

Friday morning

Just had breakfast, scrambled eggs, fruit, toast. Even though it is hot, coffee is mighty good! Roosters and dogs let us know morning is here. Leaving soon for a full day of surgery. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers!

Haiti

Had a full day today! Flights were uneventful, all of our people and luggage made it to Haiti and through customs. Then we went to the hospital where we saw over 100 patients for cleft lip and palate, ENT and urology. We have a full day of surgery tomorrow.

Time for sleep!
